Ashley
Waltman is a graduate of one of the legacy boards that formed the Toronto District
School Board. After completion of high school at Sir Sandford Fleming S.S.,
he attended the University of Toronto, graduating with Bachelor's of Science
(Hons) and Bachelor of Education Degrees. He later completed his Master of Science
degree at York University as well as his Master of Education degree at the University
of Toronto - Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
Mr. Waltman began his teaching career at East York Collegiate
Institute in 1974. While at EYCI, he taught many different science courses
(general science, biology, chemistry and physics) as well as being seconded
for a year to the Metro and Toronto Region Conservation Authority where he
served as an outdoor education teacher at Boyd Conservation Field Centre (1981-82).
In 1987, Mr. Waltman was appointed to the position of Head
of Science at Leaside High School. He served in that capacity until 1991 when
he was promoted as Vice-Principal at D.A. Morrison Junior High School. This
was followed by his appointment as Vice-Principal at Marc Garneau C.I. in
1995 where he remained until his appointment to North Toronto C.I. as principal
in September, 1999. |
